What knowledge and expertise will you gain from this training course?
During the ‘Strategic workforce planning’ course you will learn the following:
- how to identify and manage the relationship between strategic organisational choices and the deployment of staff;
- to focus on the long-term developments (1 to 5 years) in the projected workload and workforce capacity;
- to develop a plan of action which can be used to generate backing and to prevent any potential mismatches between work and people before it is too late.
Programme
The ‘Strategic workforce planning’ course consists of two days.
Day 1:
On the first day, strategic workforce planning will be clearly defined and you will look at the interrelationship between different strategic choices, workforce management and workforce planning. You will learn about the different components that play a role in SWP. You will gain an insight into the various stakeholders and roles that are necessary to generate backing for SPP, the critical factors that determine the planning horizon, and how to identify relevant information. Furthermore, you will be given a number of practical models that can be used for this.
Day 2:
On the second day you will start working on the six-step plan that will help you to establish SWP in a well-founded and structured way. You will learn how to formulate a realistic scenario for the future, to analyse the existing and future workforce capacity, to make a Gap analysis, to draw up the SWP policy, and how to implement that policy. You will be given practical tools for all of these steps.
