How does a planner stay calm and how does he maintain an overview in a hectic work environment? In this workshop you will learn how to effectively interact and communicate with your co-workers and managers.

As a planner, you have to interact with everyone in your team. This interaction goes via all sorts of channels, with communication by telephone, e-mail, and face-to-face contact. At the same time, your team leader expects you to deliver planning reports that detail any problems and issues, and above your solutions for these problems. Time is running out, and everyone wants an answer now. This communication training will help you to communicate effectively with everyone around you at work.

During the ‘Effective Communication for Planners’ workshop you will learn the following:

how to communicate clearly and effectively with employees, colleagues, and managers;
how to use different styles of communication;
how to deal with resistance during meetings and to be more assertive;
to work in a more calm and organised way and thus become more productive.

Approach

In this workshop you will learn how to effectively interact and communicate with each other during practical exercises. All the exercises are based on your specific situation to make the training as realistic as possible. You will get lots of practical tips that will help you to improve your style of communication. Furthermore, you will get your own personal action plan to assure the embedding of the acquired knowledge and experience.

Programme

Session 1:

listening and active questioning, at different communication levels;
discussion techniques (including reflection and feedback);
choosing the right means of communication;
reporting issues and communicating with managers.

Session 2:

communication styles and personal style of choice;
assertive communication techniques;
dealing with resistance and (impending) conflicts.
